Choral Beauty
A choir may be defined as a musical ensemble of singers (having two or more singers for each vocal line). This general description may be separated in application, in that the term ‘choir’ is usually applied to ensemble singers in a classical or worship situation, whilst a ‘chorus’ may be applied to the performance within opera and the theatre.
The function of music within worship, to my mind at least, is to both colour and illustrate what is going on at that particular point in the liturgy, and to raise the soul above immediate earthly concerns
These unaccompanied pieces have to my mind a particular sense of atmosphere; which may give the listener a sense of beauty and wonder, inspiring our inner selves.
Moving the pointer over Menu item ‘Choral Beauty’ will bring up a list of pieces which have inspired and lifted me over the years. I hope they may have a similar effect on you, the listener.
