Recorded in January 1996 at the Blues Alley Jazz Club in Washington DC, nine months before her death; this hand-held video footage captures the sublime beauty of an artist who died of cancer in her mid-thirties - who perhaps did not realise the amount of talent she had, and certainly did not receive the plaudits she deserved until after her death.
The song itself was composed for the 1939 film ‘The Wizard of Oz’ by the songwriting team of Arlen and Harburg; and won an Academy award for the best original song. It was considered as Judy Garland’s signature tune.
